I'm at an impasse this IILS is at the point where I have to decide if I want to change the firewall engine mounts to receive a AeroVee 2.1 or stay with the GPASC engine 2180cc. Measurement wise it's not off by much, but to rework it is a lot of work. Looking at the performance data for the AeroVee 2.1 and the "Dual-Plus" quadruple-redundant solid state ignition system with the AeroInjector, just seems like a very nice package. Airframe is Airframe, the Power Plant I would rather stay with one complete package. The AeroVee 2.1 just looks really good for the money spent. Is it worth the rework to the engine mounts to install the AeroVee? Attachments:

Hi Bestdoorman, If I were restart mine all over, I would use the more common Aerovee/Revmaster mounting pattern. This is the cheapest mount. I would avoid the x casting pattern, even if I planned to hand prop. I would use the revmaster pattern and put the flywheel puck on, allowing the option for a flywheel/starter later, if that suit my needs later on down the road. With that being said, I would contact GP/Deihel and see IF I could get the accessory case that fit the mounting pattern that it looks like you have. I would want to avoid re-welding that area to avoid crystallization of the metal in that area for the mounts. If the accessory case is not an option, then I would change the mount to the revmaster pattern. This was were I was at about a year ago, and Dan from Deihel said that he did not think they would be making any more X-casting pattern mounts with the acc. case. I purchased what he said was the last one, and it was a bit odd, causing me to put a spacer between the acc. case and starter. I did not want to re-weld my mounts. The other option is to get the X-casting and hand prop. The Cygnet I fly is hand prop only, and I truly enjoy starting it. It usually only take about 2-4 blades to start, in any temperature condition. I hope this helps. Scott R

When i was looking at the remaster r2300 i talked to joe hovarth and he claimed that it would mount directly onto the sonerai. I measured everything and he was right. For my plane anyways it would be a direct bolt on for the R2300. I have a GP w/ diehl acc case at the moment. IF you haven't looking into the Revmaster i would seriously consider it. Built, test run and ready to roll with the most proprietary built/modified components and most HP. Just my 2cents.

The 2300 weighs same as my current engine within a pound or so. Shouldn't be an issue unless it is mounted further forward and weighs more.

Bestdoorman,
If your looking for an engine I will be selling my 2180 GPASC with the following stuff: ellison TBI, alternator, starter, electronic SEI, Firewall, split cowling, carbon fiber baffles, fiberglass oil cooler shroud, remote oil filter with carbon fiber mounting plate, Fuel pump, gas collator, everything that is attached to the firewall(bulk head fittings), primer, chrome spinner, prop, grand rapids efis, and other firewall forward stuff that I do not remember off the top of my head for 5500 dollars. Basically if you had wings and frame this would give you an entire and complete engine bolt on kit.
The motor is very strong with about 100 hours on it. I want to sell it as a group and I am not interested in parting it out.
