Still waiting on the plans but trying to prep. I checked the archives on sonerai.net and came across a post to build a 2'x16' table (sounds like they split into two 2x8' tables that could be attached and level for portability. )
I called GPAS the other day when I ordered my plans and Steve said the fuselage for the S2 stretch firewall to tailpost was 198" (16.5'). I don't have the plans yet so I cannot see what dimensions I will need to work with.
Can anyone advise on the recommended table size for the fuselage jig on the stretched Sonerai II?
Thanks

When I built my IIL, I built two 3' x 8' tables and butted them end-to-end. For the IILS, you could do the same thing (either 2' or 3' wide), and then build a 1' extension off one end to deal with the extra length of the of the S.

I am building a II stretch also and I used 4 "EAA benches" 2'x5' ea. (the odd size is because that is what I had in the leftover plywood pile!) However, if I was just starting, I would build three 2'x8' eaa benches and configure them in an "L" shape. This leaves 18' for the fuse and you can use the toe of the "L" for bench grinder, vise, etc. You can't have too many tables or too much storage space! Scott

I have a 17 ft long x 32 in wide table in my garage. I took (2) 8 ft sheets of plywood, butted them end to end, and added a 1 ft extension on one end. I leveled everything as best I could, and then screwed down a couple door hinges between the sections to keep the transitions flat.
Having the extra few inches of width on either side is nice to be able to set down tools, plans, etc. Good luck!
