Are pre-welded airframes still available? I do not get a response from any of the contacts on the GPAS site...
Thanks, Justin

Justin, I don't believe you contacted me...I am one of the contacts, or at least I used to be, on the GPAS site.....'Raceair Designs', and 'Quality Airframe Works' is what I go by. I have not looked at their site in a while. I have been quoting Sonerai 1 and 2 fuselages for years, and I have built a few.....Today, it seems that it is much less expensive to buy a project from someone, than to build from scratch, using one of my fuselages. With the Sonerai 2, it almost makes sense to buy a flying airplane, that might need to be re-covered. I have seen flyable ones sell for ten to twelve thousand.
The last Sonerai 2LST quoted, was about $8,500, including tail surfaces, and control system components. The last Sonerai 1 was considerably less, $5,900... These are not items that can be 'in stock' due to the space required, and the time invested in building one..(350 to 400 manhours, you can see, no one is getting rich selling them) Each project is built up on a custom basis......These fuselages are completely TIG welded. There are racing mods that can be added to the '1', to make the airframe cleaner and faster. I have welded close to 100 fuselages in the past 30 years, and do award winning work, one project at a time..... Contact me at raceairdesigns@hotmail.com if there is any questions or further interest.............Ed

What kind of mods can be done to the fuselage? Now I'm curious.

Tube kits are available from a company in Canada called Cartesian Tube. They probably wouldn't have any of the trick mods available that you would get from Ed.

Heisan, we may have a local source of assistance. If you supply the tube, and a 3d model of the framework, a company called lasercut various may be able to cut the tubing. I have no idea what it would cost, and you will still have to weld it up.
