Hello,
Another fellow and i were at the airfield checking over his sonerai a few weeks ago. He had just installed the larger GPAS hoping to get a bit more ground clearance for the tail wheel assembly. It didn't make a much difference as we thought. When the tail wheel gets wore down the bracket gets pretty close to the ground. We are flying off of grass strips. Has anyone modified their tail wheel for assembly for more ground clearance or implemented a different system?
Matt

I am currently getting a Sonerai I ready to fly, and am considering some tail wheel mods. You have to be careful here, because the bird is quite squirrelly on the ground. The original setup does a good job of controlling the aircraft on the ground at TO and landing speeds (as long as the tail wheel is on the ground). However I don't like a rod controlling the system and I would like the ability to transition to a free swivel for parking, etc. I am afraid I have been spoiled by previous exposure to a Cessna 140A equipped with a Scott tail wheel. I am trying various things and will re-post when I find a satisfactory solution.
