I'm making available for free an offline version of Sonerai.net. All 17,000 forum posts, 2,500+ gallery photos, articles, videos, uploaded files and more are available for viewing. After installing and launching the Archives, Sonerai.net will appear in your browser just like it did on the day it was retired except it's not online and you can't write or post messages. For privacy, I removed all email addresses from the database. I tried to make this a single file download but the compressed file was over 800 MB and too large for people with slow internet connections to download. So instead of one file, I split it into 11 small files. You must download all 11 files to a temporary folder then run setup.exe. www.sonerai.net/archive-Scott

Thanks Scott, though I came late to the party, the forum was the best I ever saw.
However, am I the only one that can't get the Archives to run on my computer. When I launch it, the little blue blocks run across to a point just under the landing gear of the green Sonerai in the masthead, then they stop and eventually I get a message that the Sonerai Archives are closing. Bummer...
I am using a Toshiba laptop running Win 7, anyone want to offer a suggestion?

Your firewall or anti-virus/malware program is likely preventing the Apache and MySQL servers from starting on the loopback network interface. Temporarily disable your firewall and anti-virus programs then run sonerai.exe again. If it works, add sonerai.exe to the allowed program list. If your firewall is blocking ports, you may need to specifically open port 7188 for MySQL and 4001 for Apache.

Scott,
Can I get some Mac love from you? ;-) Before I waste your bandwidth downloading the files once I run the setup is the data outside the exe where I could copy it over from a friend's windows machine? As long as I can get at the data I'm comfortable getting it into a local mysql and apache install on the mac.
Thanks for everything with Sonerai.net I'm really missing it as I work on my project.

Before going through all that trouble, have you tried using a Windows emulator on your Mac? Try one first and if it doesn't work, I may be able to create a WAMPP Stack for Mac.
Funny, I'm spending more time supporting an offline version of Sonerai.net than an online version. If it were not for the growing number of nut jobs on the Internet, I could have the site running with two clicks of a mouse.

AAARRRRGGGHHHH!
I believe site administrators have the right and the means to block nut jobs. I also believe that no member of good intent and common sense would object to such a policy. Further, I believe an annual membership fee for full access would be a good and reasonable course.
Not that I would try to talk you into taking such actions, Scott. ;D

Just remember, one man's nut job is someone elses Dad ,Son,Uncle, ect.
"Skippity do da skipitty day, my oh my what a wonderful day" (couldn't help myself) :-)
I also agree with admin blocking nut jobs a reasonable fee usually keeps the trolls away too.

Speaking of nut jobs, Scott, you want me to defile my sweet mac with (gasp) windows? You sir are twisted. ;-) Should have thought of that myself. Guess i've left the windows world too far behind as haven't needed an emulator in a while. I'll give it a try.
I'd agree with the others that sonerai.net access is worth a reasonable yearly fee. I'd go with the ability to read all you want, but to post you have to pay the fee.
Thanks again, Derrick
