Does anybody out there have a favorite - and relatively inexpensive - brand/supplier to go with for a grinding wheel dressing tool to put a 3/8 and 5/16 radius into a grinding wheel?
I'm looking to fit tubes for a II-LS fuselage, and already tried the hole saw method with mixed results for a few of the first tubes. Burned thru a couple holes saws and ended up having to grind most of the tubes anyways. So, figured I'd just get a formed grinding wheel and just go with that.

Jon: When I built my fuselage 30 some odd years ago, I'd used the method that you describe, and it worked very well. I do believe that using a radiused grinding wheel is way faster than using one of the fancy tube cutters, and gives excellent results once you get the hang of it. I bought my dressing tool from Sears, and it worked quite well.

I have a couple of grinding wheel dressers. One has a wheel embedded with diamond dust. It will square a wheel in 5 seconds. The other is a round rod with a diamond at the point. It will form the radius you want and quickly. Dressing tools work best if applied to remove stone material rather than just to touch it gently. The first one I found is from Travers tool # 53-400-116 TTC 6"Long Shank Diamond Dresser - at $18.

Carborundum stick. Any machine tool supplier will have it.
