Thanks to the support and understanding of my wife, I'm fulfilling a dream to own a hanger and possibly a co-located home at the new River Falls Airpark that is south of Amarillo on the rim of Palo Duro Canyon. I purchased a 1.2 acre lot and moved my Sonerai to a temporary hanger near the main runway until I can afford to build my hanger. Access to the private 500 acre wildlife refuge, a golf course, equestrian center and shooting complex is part of the package. Above is a picture of the airport. It's in the early stages of construction. More hangers have been built since this picture was taken. My plane is currently in the hanger on the right. Palo Duro Canyon is just beyond the runway. Airport layout. Lots along the runways are almost sold-out. A golf course is being built south of my lot and a shooting range and equestrian center are already built west of runway 4/22 This is why it's called "River Falls". The 500 acre private wildlife refuge in the canyon has been off-limits to the public for many, many years and is unspoiled. Lakes are stocked with trout. The airport is located just above the cliff in the background. It'll be a few years before I can build the hanger (kid's college comes first) but I think I'm on the right track. Very nice Scott, my dream as well. Will the hangar be located on the same 1.2 acre lot the house will be on?

Very nice Scott, my dream as well. Will the hangar be located on the same 1.2 acre lot the house will be on? Tim Yes but I haven't decided if it'll be a house or an apartment. Plenty of land for a house but most people are building their hangers deeper and placing the apartment inside. One person has a swimming pool in their hanger! My wife wants to keep our current house and use the airpark and all it's amenities like fishing, golf and flying for weekend retreats. Unless I hit the lottery, I have no plans to build anything on the lot until my son's college is paid for. Responsibilities before pleasure. -Scott

Scott, That is great, and you will never regret investing in airport property. We now live on an airpark, and I can stroll down the driveway to my hangar. Sure beats road traffic....Ed
