Hi all,
I am looking for the material the wheelaxle of the S II is made of. As I remember right, Monnet at the time suggested, as a possibility, the use of a Jhon Deere partnummet xxxxxxx. That was the right bolt one could use to fabricate the wheel axle from. Problem is, I cannot retrieve the Pn., and second what quality material that bolt is made off..... I need that material specification as a starting point for an integral fabricated aluminum wheel axle/backplate to go with a specific type of hydraulic brake/wheel assy.
Convinced someone could get me out here, Kind regards,
Des.

I used grade 5, 3/4", fine thread bolts for my axles. I chucked each bolt in a lathe and took a skim cut on the face of the bolt head to true it up. Then, I had the bolts welded to 1/4" mild steel mounting plates. And then, I chucked the weldments back in the lathe, and took a skim cut on the face of the mounting plates to true them up.
