What is its story? What does it need?

It needs an engine, canopy and the completion of a wing. It is registered but someone turned it back into a project.

I've seen the winches used to hangar heavy aircraft also used to lift aircraft into a higher calling. Usually the winch is adapted to allow it to be padlocked. The winch is sometimes mounted on a beam which spreads out the load over several rafters. Should I purchase that Pitts S-1C, it would be so hangared above my SII. I'd fly the Pitts in the summer and the SII, spring and fall. Bill

The SI is hoisted by 2 of these: www.harborfreight.com/1100-lb-capacity-electric-hoist-93251.htmlI extended the remote control into a wall box. A single person can get the plane on the ground in about 1 min. The other two planes are hoisted with a smaller version of the same hoist. The controls are also extended. A relatively cheap way of fitting a lot more stuff into the hanger. I was going to build a mezzanine for storage, but in the long run it was cheaper and faster to hoist the big things.

I raised two of my airplanes this way when I had a shop/hangar in Florida....At that time the hoists were around 60 bucks a piece. I was very satisfied with their performance....Ed

Hi Jeff, I had the same lift in my old hangar, but never used, because there was enough space on the ground. Where have you connect the lift to the fuselage? any pictures? with best regards Juergen

There is a lifting harness wrapped around the motor mount at the firewall and one on the tail. I will snap a pict next time I bring it down.
