there is a second way to get rid of the sometimes annoying ads on our pages:
These ads are placed through myThings.com. If you visit that site by clicking on the 'i' on the lower right of one of these ads, you'll be taken to a page where you can opt-out. An opt-out coockie will be copied to your browser cookie cache. From then on, the ads will not be shown any longer, at least not those from myThing.com. Of course, if you are in the habit of deleting cookies regularly, you'd have to re-visit that site and opt-out again.

If you are using Firefox, you can install the Adblock Plus plug-in. Then right click on any image you want to block to add its site to the blocked list. It automatically installs a long list of blocked sites.
It is one of Firefox's most popular plug-ins. I've used it for years and it works very well. I cannot speak to any blocking software for other browsers.
