No, that's not a personal question. Flying with a friend in an RV-8, I noticed the inside of the canopy skirt was lined with a very thin and obviously lightweight carpet. It seemed to do a good job of noise damping. When I asked where he got this neat fabric, he told me it is "universal trunk lining carpet", from JC Whitney. I looked it up, and its very affordable at about $30 for a 54 x 108" piece. More than enough for the inside of my IILS canopy skirt. He attached his with 3M 77 spray adhesive.
So, now I wonder what others are using to line their Sonerai canopy skirt?

I've got paint and 20 years worth of Oshkosh and 3 years worth of Sun-N-Fun stickers. I find the concept of trying to deaden noise in a Sonerai kind of amusing. The best sound deadener is a good ANR headset. Attachments:

heheh Fred. Well said.
Black paint for me. If you want to deaden noise in the sonerai start with the firewall.

I am still having a difficult time aligning my canopy to allow for the slid to close with ease. Also, I have a gap between the canopy and the cowling. Any hints and or suggestions??? That is all I need to get this thing off the ground. Lesbrown@wfrmls.com

Pictures would help, but then again I can figure out how to post them either.

The inside of my canopy is Orange cloth with White iron on letters which say Sonerai IIL. The letters were added to cover a stain on the cloth. I insulated the fire wall, cut noise, but made mag timing more difficult. With the 2180 running 4 strait exhaust stacks my Sonerai is LOUD. Roger Godfrey
